CROWE
Crowe stormed outside, clenching his fists to keep himself from firing his magic in anger. How dare the library choose Avery over him? He was the better witch and spellmaker by far, and it didnât make sense, at least not to him. The test mustâve been rigged. It had to have been. And what the hell was Zarya doing there interfering as only ghost hunters did. She was a strong witch more than she realized, but had the spell she woven into the counter-spell worked? He shook his head. Whether it had or not, he couldnât risk it. If he did anything to take over the library and the Immobilization Spell was activated, then he wouldnât be able to implement his plans. He was once more going to have to be patient and take the time to do something that would take his attention away from what he really wanted to be doing. Above anything else, he needed to figure out if he could counter Zaryaâs spell. Being in charge of the library could wait. His agenda had always been his plan which he reminded himself as he tried to block out the depression of defeat.
Outside, Crowe inhaled the night air, enjoying the coolness and how it flooded into his body. Heâd never thought heâd get to experience this again, to feel how his lungs expanded, filled with air, then contracted with breath.
Iâve done it.
His achievement hadnât really sunk in. Once heâd taken over Sakuraâs body, he couldnât resist testing out his magic on the unsuspecting vampire and fae. Crowe smiled to himself. The look on their faces when his magic started sparking upâthe surprise mixed with fear and a touch of horror. It felt great to finally put Daire on the back foot. The only thing was it didnât last long, though it was only because the others had returned that he didnât get to test out his full magic ability on Daire or Kaia. He didnât think much of the fae either way, but the vampire had always gotten under his skin, and he wanted to teach him a notably different lesson for a change.
Crowe walked out onto the grass, looking up at the few stars that could be seen despite the city lights blocking their view. Now that he was in the flesh, did he really need to be teaching the lessons to the students? It was something heâd loathed as a ghost. It wasnât what he wanted to do now either. He shook his head. No, he had better things to do. If the library didnât have such knowledge within its pages, heâd hightail it out of there now. He knew Avery would tolerate his presence as long as he didnât get in her way. He wouldnât, at least not for now.
The air was cooling his skin and taking away his anger from losing the challenge with Avery. This wasnât at all how heâd thought heâd spend his first few moments in the flesh, dealing with defeat.
